EOIs now open to be part of the 2026 Academic Manager SIG Mentorship Program!
In 2024, the English Australia Academic Managers SIG (AMSIG) launched the Academic Managers Mentorship Program. The 2026 Program will begin in March, and expressions of interest to join the program as a mentee or mentor are now open.
The Mentorship Program aims to support new Academic Managers by pairing less experienced managers with more experienced managers to facilitate the sharing of knowledge across the English Australia network. During the Program, mentors and mentees meet virtually four times between March and September. In addition, mentors and mentees attend 3 virtual workshops throughout the Program.
What participants valued in the 2025 Program
Overall, participants reported increased confidence, valuable professional networks and practical tools for navigating leadership challenges. In 2025, participants highlighted that the program:

Provided access to someone experienced in the role, who could answer practical questions and share strategies for common management issues.

Created a supportive space to explore different leadership styles, strategies for managing up, and building positive workplace relationships.

Encouraged reflection on their own practice, including goal-setting, long-term career planning, and clarifying strengths, priorities and next steps.

Offered flexible, needs-based conversations with a neutral colleague who understood the industry context.

Helped mentors and mentees discover overlaps and similarities in their experiences, building collegial connections across the sector.
2026 Program Dates
13 February 2026: Expressions of interest due
19 March 2026 @2pm: Mentors and mentees introductory webinar
March – September 2026: Mentor-mentee meetings and planning
24 June 2026 @2pm: mid-point check in session with AMSIG Convenors and other program participants
3 September 2026 @2pm: Final session and program review with AMSIG Convenors and other program participants
17-18 September 2026: Optional catch up at the English Australia Conference
