CEO Report January 2023
It is hard to believe that we are already at the end of January 2023. I hope all our members and industry partners had a wonderful festive period and a happy start to the New Year.
CEO Report December 2022
As 2022 draws to a close, I am pleased by and proud of how the ELICOS sector has emerged, after facing yet more challenges in the wake of the pandemic. While several challenges remain, the strength of current enrolments, particularly in private colleges, and recent visa lodgement data fills me with optimism for the future.
CEO Report October
There’s never a dull moment at English Australia, and this month we’ve held our AGM, welcomed our new 2022-23 English Australia Board, had some significant announcements from our regulators related to the return to compliance, launched our new CPD Portal, and flew the flag at the AIEC.
CEO Report August
August has been a busy month for English Australia, with a significant focus on teacher recruitment as part of our advocacy efforts, the launch of two new English language teaching courses in online and hybrid delivery. We released our latest research report outlining the partnership opportunities between Australia and Vietnam in English language teaching, and have been finalising preparations for our upcoming annual conference, which is less than two weeks away. Read on for the full story.
CEO Report July
July has been a busy month for English Australia in our efforts to support members. I would like to thank all the members that participated in the Annual ELICOS Market Survey again this year with the report released this week. Visa processing and teacher shortages have been key focuses of our advocacy this month, and the Ed-tech symposium was a highlight of our Professional Development activities with more details provided below.
CEO Report June
The end of the fiscal year is upon us and as usual it has been very busy at English Australia. A highlight of the past month has been the opportunity to meet with many of you face-to-face at the Branch meeting/member forums across the country. The dust is now settling on the transition of the new government. English Australia will be engaging with new Ministers in the coming month to ensure our sector’s value and position are understood. High on the agenda will be visa processing, which we understand has been a real issue for many members.
CEO Report April
Thank you to our members who have provided valued feedback in all areas of the ESOS Review. English Australia has finalised our submission, which is available for members to review.
CEO Report March
March has been a productive month for English Australia and the sector, as we begin to emerge from the long-term effects of our international border closures. The 2021-22 Federal Budget referenced several key initiatives that English Australia successfully advocated for over the past year that I know are already having a positive impact on our members.
CEO Report: November 2021
As November comes to a close, we have seen some major developments that have reinforced the cautious optimism that I noted in our last newsletter.
CEO update: April 2021
As well as today’s announced support package, I also look at other key activities that English Australia has been undertaking throughout April such as our Future of ELICOS consultations and a new report that we are developing on the economic impact of Covid-19 on the sector and the Australian economy.
