There’s never a dull moment at English Australia, and this month we’ve held our AGM, welcomed our new 2022-23 English Australia Board, had some significant announcements from our regulators related to the return to compliance, launched our new CPD Portal, and flew the flag at the AIEC.

CEO Report July

July has been a busy month for English Australia in our efforts to support members. I would like to thank all the members that participated in the Annual ELICOS Market Survey again this year with the report released this week. Visa processing and teacher shortages have been key focuses of our advocacy this month, and the Ed-tech symposium was a highlight of our Professional Development activities with more details provided below.

CEO Report June

The end of the fiscal year is upon us and as usual it has been very busy at English Australia. A highlight of the past month has been the opportunity to meet with many of you face-to-face at the Branch meeting/member forums across the country. The dust is now settling on the transition of the new government. English Australia will be engaging with new Ministers in the coming month to ensure our sector’s value and position are understood. High on the agenda will be visa processing, which we understand has been a real issue for many members.

CEO Report May

There have been many significant announcements over the past month. Federally, we’ve seen a changing of the guard with the Labour government on track to form a majority. English Australia looks forward to working with the new government and relevant Ministers set to be announced shortly. Our achievements of the past year were recognised with the announcement as a PIEoneer Association of the Year finalist, and we were proud to release our latest Guide to Good Practice. We have lots of projects and initiatives for members to engage in and I’m looking forward to seeing many of you at the Branch meeting/ member forums throughout June.

CEO Report March

March has been a productive month for English Australia and the sector, as we begin to emerge from the long-term effects of our international border closures. The 2021-22 Federal Budget referenced several key initiatives that English Australia successfully advocated for over the past year that I know are already having a positive impact on our members.

CEO Report: February 2022

It has been a positive start to the year with the reopening of our international borders across the East Coast, and WA preparing to open this week. Thank you to the many members who have provided us with updates on their circumstances.Whilst it is too early to say that we have overcome the worst of it, the tides are certainly turning, with applications (particularly for Independent ELICOS student visas) on the rise.
