ELICOS commencements fall by 16.9% March 2022 YTD
National ELICOS commencements for YTD March 2021 decreased, 16.9% or 1,764 fewer
students compared to YTD March 2021. For enrolments, the figure decreased 38% or 8,942
fewer students.
Market performance highlights:
Commencements from China decreased by 44.6% or 1,232 fewer students versus YTD March 2021. Chinese students made up 17.7% of commencements within ELICOS.
Commencements from Colombia decreased by 45% or 614 students, commencements from Brazil fell by 19.3% or 147 fewer students.
YTD March commencements were also down for India (24.2%), South Korea (37%) and Taiwan (28.8%).creased for Thailand (up 98%), and Vietnam (up 12.2%).
Independent ELICOS-only visa lodgements eleven times higher than in March 2021
Visa lodgements for March 2022 were up by 38.06% across all sectors, or 12,056 more lodgements, compared to March 2021.
The figures for Independent ELICOS visa applications lodged in March 2022 continue to improve, with 5,611 total applications lodged, which is the highest number of lodgements received in more than two years. Independent ELICOS visa lodgements were over eleven times higher, with 5,163 more visas lodged, for the same time period.
Independent ELICOS sector grants
March 2022 had a total of 2,247 Independent ELICOS sector visas granted, which is almost fifteen times higher than the slowest grant month of the last two years, being August 2021.
The grant figures for March 2022 were six times higher than in March 2021, with 1,930 more grants.
