ELICOS commencements fall 61.9% for May 2021 YTD
May continues the downward trend for ELICOS commencements with 23,927 fewer commencements by YTD May 2021 when compared to YTD May 2020. This extent of this decline becomes more apparent when comparing YTD May 2021 with YTD May 2019, revealing a drop of 35,515 commencements or 70.7%.
Perhaps the only positive for this month is that commencements in May 2021 (2,197) are only 3.5% down on April 2021 (2,277). However, both May and April’s figures are down on the average number of commencements (2,940) seen in 2021.
Offshore ELICOS-only visa lodgements at all time low for 2021
Offshore ELICOS-only visa lodgements have consistently fallen throughout 2021. May 2021 saw just 131 lodgements, considerably down from 2021’s highpoint of 200 in January. However, May 2020 and its 41 offshore ELICOS-only visa lodgements still stands as the lowest point of these lodgements since the beginning of the pandemic.
