Thai Language Institute seeks Australian partners for English Academic Purpose Program

An institution in Thailand seeks Australian partners to outsource their English Academic Purpose Program (EAP) for delivery in Thailand. This project is planned for launch in August 2021.

The Language Institute of Chiang Mai University (LICMU) is interested in working with Australian partners through whom they could outsource 20-weeks of their EAP program which will be delivered at LICMU as a pathway program for direct entry into Australian universities.

Due to the pandemic, Australian partners would need to consider accepting a blended learning delivery model for this project. This would involve adding an elearning module as a part of this EAP program for the students to access anytime, anywhere. The program will be delivered at the Language Institute attached to Chiang Mai University, located in the Chiang Mai province in the north of Thailand.

The first pilot cohort of students is expected to be around 30 students (15 students per class). The target group is not only limited to Thai students who are studying at Chiang Mai University but also aims to support international students who are enrolling a full-degree programs at Chiang Mai University and other universities in northern Thailand that have students interested in further study in Australia.

The target student group includes both government and private sector employees, as well as the general public throughout the north of Thailand. LICMU is an autonomous organisation under the supervision of Chiang Mai university. The mission of the institute is to develop the learning potential of individuals, in the areas of:

  • communication skills required in the both an academic and general context
  • enhanced use of foreign languages by students and staff, as well as the wider community
  • improved knowledge and understanding of a variety of foreign cultures
  • production of high quality foreign language learning materials
  • establishing a collaboration network, amongst language institutions throughout Thailand and abroad
